Brief info
Dario Peña is a founding member of Voices From Within and a graduate of Sing Sing Correctional Facility, where he spent 17 years and helped build the project from inside the prison walls. While incarcerated, he earned a B.S. in Behavioral Science from Mercy College and a Master’s in Professional Studies from New York Theological Seminary, and discovered the transformative power of storytelling and theater.
Today, Dario works with Columbia University’s Center for Justice and its Justice Through Code program, supporting recruitment, community partnerships, student success, and reentry for system-impacted people stepping into careers in tech. He also appears in the acclaimed film Sing Sing, bringing his lived experience to the screen. Through Voices From Within, Dario continues to share his story with young people and communities so they can see the real human cost of violence—and the possibility of change.
