Brief info
Jermaine Archer is a founding member of Voices From Within and a writer, artist, and justice advocate who spent 22 years incarcerated in New York State prisons, including Sing Sing Correctional Facility. While inside, he became a leader in programs like Rehabilitation Through the Arts, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and used theater, language, and storytelling to challenge violence and transform prison culture.
Since coming home, Jermaine has worked as a paralegal and sentence-mitigation specialist, and today serves as Executive Director of Rehabilitation Through the Arts, helping bring the same transformative arts programming that changed his life to prisons in New York and beyond.
Through Voices From Within, he continues to share his story with young people, communities, and institutions so they can see the human cost of violence—and what a real second chance can look like.
